Mine

Sculpture Square (Singapore) 2010

Driven by Delia’s interest in history, ethnography, and geology, Mine was inspired from her birthplace in northern Romania; where the earth is rich with valuable minerals and geological materials.   

This scaffold-like wooden railroad represents an imagined landscape of a mine, assembled from an avalanche of more than 2,000 individual ceramic pieces. A 15-meter-long microcosm supported by dark run-down wood, and loaded with stoneware, porcelain, ceramic, and metals.
