Artistic Encounters celebrates the 60th anniversary of Modern Gallery in Subotica, Serbia. Featuring works by Delia from their permanent collection, acquired in 1988 after she won an award during the Yugoslav Ceramic Triennial.

Danube forms part of a series of installations inspired by Europe’s most important river, the Danube river traverses through the European continent from Germany and drains into the Black sea. Since ancient times it has played an influential role in the history and culture of the various countries that it runs through.

Delia’s ensemble of ceramic and stoneware sculptures measure 2.5 metres in length and embodies contrasting ideas of the river; one of constant flux and another of placidity. The central pieces are flanked by a group of smaller sculptures that symbolise the diversity of life and culture that developed along the banks of the Danube.
